Saturn's Influence on 2020 & What To Expect Personally

Saturn has been a THEME this year. We kicked off 2020 with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction on January 12th.

Ever since then things have been... karmic? Read this to understand Saturn's influence on 2020 and how it will impact you personally.

It’s been A YEAR! And it’s not over yet.

We came into 2020 thinking it was like any other year of existence, well, the general population did anyway. Astrologers have been telling you things were going to get weird for a while now…

First of all we need to come to a general understanding of what Saturn represents within our lives and how it impacts us.

What does Saturn Represent?

Saturn is our planet of karmic happenings (karma is neither inherently “good” or “bad”). It traditionally rules Capricorn and Aquarius and often gives us major “dad vibes.” Saturn represents maturity, structure/order of life and society, self-control and self-mastery, and goes along with our life purpose and legacy and understanding our personal responsibility to the world and humanity.

Saturn asks us to understand our own boundaries and comfort zones. It’s influence wants us to remain level-headed in all situations and make the best decisions based on the information provided to us. The energy that comes from Saturn can be very wise-- often choosing thought before speaking on those thoughts. It wants to make sure things were done right the first time and to be deliberate with our actions.

Saturn is often associated with discipline and restriction but I feel the interpretations of those words have been a little off, generally speaking. When I think of the discipline Saturn offers, it’s less about a punishment system and more about self-discipline. Mastery of your mind and your routines so that you can be most effective within the world and your time here. The discipline to do what is right and what is in alignment with your soul while pushing out distractions.

As far as restriction goes, I feel Saturn wants you to find your own personal limits and push the boundaries of your comfort zones. It wants you to go to the edge of what you thought was possible to see if you can push a little further and use mental fortitude to do it. Instead of seeing restriction as a limit-- it’s moreso understanding what you personally are and are not capable of and staying within your own personal boundaries once you have found those limits. Limits change over time and you’re always able to push a little further whenever you feel the push or pull to do so. Think of it as less of a control system and more of a feedback system of personal growth and development.

Saturn’s Influence on 2020

On January 12th of 2020, the Saturn-Pluto conjunction occurred at 22°.

This was an important event for a few different reasons. Saturn, the planet of karma, met up with Pluto, the planet of transformation, regeneration, destruction and rebirth. When Pluto gets involved-- before rebirth and transformation, destruction needs to happen. This can be seen in nature all the time with its cyclical seasons and ecosystems. Life from death. Transformation through rebirth.

When Pluto is around, don’t be afraid of the concept of death. That doesn’t mean actually dying, all the time, it can also mean the death of a situation, of certain institutions, ideals, frameworks, etc.

When these two planets came together in January at the crucial 22° mark which is also the “kill or be killed” degree, it uh… set something in motion that the world was not really expecting. Ever since that fated day in January, things have been weird, have they not?

The karmic meeting of these two planets set off a ripple effect that we are still feeling now and will continue to feel for years to come. Everything shifted to a space of karmic transformation which was exactly what the world was waiting for. Something big needed to happen in order to jolt the earth onto a new path and this was it. The societal structures that have been needing to go under a reconstruction phase have been highlighted since then, showing us how ineffective our current government structures are and even having us question things like the education systems-- or at least changing the way they operate.

Saturn moved from Capricorn to Aquarius on March 21st, 2020.

When Saturn moved into Aquarius, we *felt* that shit. Between March 21 - July 1st, Saturn traveled through 00° and 01° Aquarius, setting off the Saturn return of those born with either 00° or 01° Aquarius Saturn. Keep in mind that Saturn started it’s retrograde on May 11th but didn’t move back into Capricorn until July 1st.

During this time, the Saturn in Capricorn people got a mini-break from their Saturn return lessons, but I’ll touch more on that later in this post.

Everyone felt the strange reality we were living in this Spring with the impacts that COVID-19 was having on society. It changed everything, did it not? Which makes a whole lot of sense when we think about shifting from the Capricorn archetype to Aquarius. Capricorn generally makes sense and is an orderly earth sign energy whereas Aquarius is all air baybeeeee. If you’ve ever met someone with Aquarius placements, they are weirdos, and I say that lovingly as I have an Aquarius moon and North Node. Things get strange when Aquarius energy comes around because it can feel very foreign and alien to most. Many people have a hard time understanding Aquarius energy unless they have it in their main placements. Overall, it was a shift of earthly structure and rule-based systems to an energy of “what are this?” where things are constantly changing and adapting. Yes, Aquarius is fixed energy-- but it’s also an air sign and change is inevitable.

The Return of the Saturn Return

For those of us who have Capricorn Saturn placements, we got a bonus return --- yayyyyyyy aren’t we luckkkyyyyyy? Sarcasm, tbh. July 1, 2020 Saturn moved BACK into Capricorn allowing the Capricorn Saturn people extra karmic lessons and more time to understand what they truly are bringing to the world through their return.

Saturn Returns can be thought of as the time you truly move into adulthood, your first one will be around the time you are 28-31 (everyone is a little different). Your Saturn return begins at the time where Saturn returns to the same degree you have Saturn in your natal chart. For example, if you have Saturn at 6° Capricorn -- your Saturn return would begin when transiting Saturn is at 6°. If Saturn was only at 00-05°, your return had not began yet.

This is exciting because only the 00° and 01° Aquarius Saturn placements got a taste of their Saturn return in 2020, with everyone who starts from 02° - 29°beginning in 2021-2023. Yes, some people’s returns are shorter than others, lucky you. Your return will end March 7, 2023 if you’re a Aquarius Saturn placement.

Saturn DIRECT

Saturn went direct on September 28, 2020 within the sign of Capricorn and will remain in Capricorn until it moves into Aquarius on December 16th at 00°.

Shortly after, on December 21, 2020, the Saturn-Jupiter Conjunction will occur and tbh all bets are off once that day comes.

I’ve been channeling 12/12 a lot though too and have been pulled to keep the week from 12/12 - 12/19 within my frame of reference. I’m calling it “The Week of Karma” and I really don’t know exactly why just yet but I feel like some rather epic shit is going to go down.

As astrologers and energy workers or whatever-the-fuck you want to call our multifaceted selves, we can’t really tell you EXACTLY what will happen but we can give you themes to prepare for.

Saturn-Jupiter Conjunction on 12/21 aka “The Great Conjunction”

What is standing out to me about this day is that we have Saturn coming into extremely close quarters with Jupiter, they will literally be within .1 degrees of each other which is *really fucking close.* When planets are close like that aka “in conjunction” -- it means they are working together. To me this really means “Karmic Expansion” when we think about the archetypes of Saturn and now adding Jupiter to the mix. It’s a jumbled combination of Capricorn, Aquarius, Sagittarius and Pisces energy and if you’re into evolutionary astrology you’ll understand that those are the most “advanced” signs or most evolved on the wheel chart.

Truly nothing will be the same after that day. Saturn & Jupiter haven’t been this close since 1623. We have all the major players working TOGETHER to literally transform society in ways we’ve never seen.

Themes include:
Evolved Philosophies
Abandoning out-dated systems
Focus on legacy within community
Humanitarianism
Spiritual Expansion
Betterment of society

“Okay but how does this impact ME?!” - you probably

No matter what your natal Saturn placement is, you’ll still be feeling the impact of this cosmic event. You’ll want to pull up a wheel chart and see where you have Aquarius within your natal chart.

Your house placement wherever you have 00° Aquarius will indicate which area of your life this will be directly impacting. And before you say, “I don’t have any Aquarius in my chart” -- you’re gonna have to look up a real natal chart not one of those stupid C*St*r fuckshit charts. www.astro.com has some decent charts and just look for the Aquarius symbol and which house it starts in and that’ll be where 00° is at.

00° Aquarius in 1st house:
A focus will be on personal expansion and finding new ways to present yourself to the world.

00° Aquarius in 2nd house:
Finding broader ways to earn an income while staying within your soul alignment will be a major theme for you.

00° Aquarius in 3rd house:
Find bigger bolder ways to communicate your thoughts and ideas to the world. It’s important for you to do so and bring your knowledge forward in a tangible way.

00° Aquarius in 4th house:
Changes to your home and family life will be highlighted for you-- you will be creating new foundations in which to build from.

00° Aquarius in 5th house:
It’s time to express yourself in larger than life ways. Take the chances you’ve wanted to take and don’t look back.

00° Aquarius in 6th house:
You will be able to implement all of those ideas in your head in a way that makes sense for you day-to-day. See what other people need and work in service to them and you’ll be able to expand beyond what you could have dreamed.

00° Aquarius in 7th house:
If you’ve been trying to do things solo, now is a good time to work with other people to make your dreams a reality. Don’t be afraid to give up a little bit of control to expand in the ways you and everyone else needs. Team work makes the dream work.

00° Aquarius in 8th house:
Fully cooperating and trusting others is going to be a key to your personal expansion. Don’t shy away from joint-ventures and work with people who are like-minded for best results. Pay attention to how your intimate relationships help or hinder your growth.

00° Aquarius in 9th house:
Helping other people see what you see is important for the future of the planet. The vision you have for society is a beautiful one that encompasses all belief systems & cultures. Show & communicate the vision. It’s important.

00° Aquarius in 10th house:
This is your time to step into your ultimate personal power and expansion through the mark you want to leave on the world. Figure out exactly what you want to do and formulate a plan to get it done. The sky isn’t even the limit at this point.

00° Aquarius in 11th house:
We need you. We need you to step up. We need you to lead within your community and with a bold heart and mind. Help society advance forward while helping people understand the value of our differences and the beauty in our individuality.

00° Aquarius in 12th house:
Spiritual expansion is a duty that you must fulfill for yourself and helping others do the same. You have a way of understanding what the collective needs better than most and it is time to put your 1,000 thoughts and ideas into action. Find people to help you plan, if you’re lost in the noise.

Which house will this be impacting for you? Let me know in the comments.
