Taurus, Venus & Value

When we talk about Venus, the first two signs that come to mind are Taurus and Libra, as they are both ruled by Venus and take on Venusian influences throughout the expression of their archetypes. The feminine form of Venus is Taurus, the masculine being Libra.

The planet Venus is multifaceted in its characteristics but one of the most defining features of Venus is its representation of value within our interpretation of the planets and stars. Value can be many things and the word value is not as straightforward as we think because there are multiple ways to define it. This blog post will help you see where your values are and if you’re in alignment with your personal value structure!

Understanding Your Personal Values

Values in this case can be viewed as personal principles by which you live. Most of us grew up very differently from each other and often our world-view and value system is originally shaped by our parents and the people closest to us (friends/family/religion/school) etc. Most humans don’t get the chance when they are a child to understand their own values without having the world push some on you, so while defining your values as an adult, take some time to make sure they are YOURS and not just what society wanted you to feel.

Your personal values should be standards that you hold yourself to and seek in others. Do you value honesty? Do you value kind-heartedness, dedication, compassion, the pursuit of knowledge, community?

Everyone’s values are different, which is something you’ll have to navigate and understand while interacting with other people. Astrologically speaking, astrologers look to the planet Venus to understand someone’s personal value system. Venus within the houses can show which area of life someone might seek value or define their value systems by. Below are brief explanations of Venus within the houses.

Taurus’ Influence on Venus & Value

Because Taurus is the feminine side of Venus, its archetypal energies play a major role in how we can better understand Venus and our value structures.

Through Taurus’ lens, value would look like fair compensation for work done, valuing your physical body and wellness, feeling valued whether at work, friends, family, or your physical abilities and body. Don’t forget, money is a feminine thing ;)

Taurus asks you to evaluate and determine the value you offer to the world. In business, this is literally called “value proposition” where you show others why you’re valuable so that they do business with you. The value you offer the world can usually be linked back to your own personal set of values, and if it’s not that’s a major red flag that you’re out of alignment with yourself.

We work to produce more value (product, service, etc) and to be given value in exchange (money, material needs met). We work at different companies or with different people who align with our perceived value. If you don’t necessarily value yourself you might be overworked and underpaid (btw this feels like a societal conditioning thing so don’t take it personally but be aware of how it’s impacting you personally) whereas someone who has taken the time to establish their value structure and stick to it wouldn’t be found in situations they feel lower their value or are not being respected for the value they have to offer.

Jobs and employers are asking you to say, “I will sell my time, mental effort, and physical effort for “x” amount per year or hour.” Are you aligned with their values? For example, McDonald’s sells low-quality food to increase profit margins for themselves and investors. They will do anything for money and don’t care about the overall health and well-being of customers and this lack of caring is then also reflected in worker’s salaries and hourly wages. They place profits over people, is that something your values are aligned with? If not, find ways to increase your personal value so that you can work with others who hold higher standards.

Are you valuing yourself? If not, it subconsciously produces physical outcomes where you are left feeling undervalued by others. Tune into your Venus placement within your natal chart (house & sign) or find where Taurus is within the houses to gain a clearer understanding of the things you actually value and shape your life and actions around that to watch things actively shift within your life.

Things to consider overall:

  • What are your personal values? Have you listed them out? Do you really know?

  • Do you respect others’ values/value and the work they put in?

  • Are you valuing yourself?

  • Are you allowing others to define your value?

  • Are you acting in ways that genuinely value others?

The second house can also give some major clues to understanding your value structure.
